Hey mom, I got my flight plans yesterday. I go from here to LA and have a 2 hour layover there, then from there to London and I have an 8 hour layover, then from there to South Africa for a 3 hour layover, then to Mozambique. I will get there at 10:45 am their time so I'll have almost a full days work after 2 days strait flying ha ha but I can't wait to get out of here. My Portuguese is going really well. I can understand almost everything my teachers say and I can get around alot of the stuff I can't say so I'm not as worried as I probably should be to go to a country that only speaks it ha ha. Oi, Familia!
I get my flight plans a week from today and with how fast the weeks are going by it will feel like tomorrow! I'm so excited! We had to get FBI clearance, I guess it's a new rule they just added to go to Mozambique, so hopefully that won't slow me down because if I'm here another week I may burn the MTC to the ground, ha ha. Seriously, I might...It's not that bad I just want to get out of here! It was weird, we had to go to Albertson's to get a money order and it was so weird to see normal people. Everyone was looking at us and it was a really weird feeling but it was really exciting! It felt weird to ride in a car again too. It feels like I've been here for years but at the same time it's gone by way fast.
The Portuguese is coming so good! I've learned more in the last few days than I have the whole time I've been here. My teacher Irmao Bills even said that he was very impressed with how fast I've been picking it up the past week.
Thanks everyone for all the letters. I love getting letters, it makes the MTC not seem as bad. This week has flown by, we got a new district in on Wednesday and the guy going to Mozambique is way cool and we get along great. I can't wait to get out of here, but it was a good experience. Thanks again for all the letters, packages and love. I love you all!

Oi Familia! Another week has come and gone here. I get my flight plans 2 weeks from today so we are way excited! We taught the first lesson on the Restoration on Monday in Portuguese and it went pretty well. The hard part about it is that all the volunteers speak Brazilian Portuguese which has a different accent and a few different words and we aren’t familiar enough with the language to understand them with the heavy accent yet, but we could understand him pretty well. I look back at a month ago when I knew absolutely no Portuguese and now 5 weeks later I’m teaching a lesson without memorizing a bunch of phrases I don’t know, not reading from a script, but actually pulling things together in my head and speaking Portuguese! It really is amazing how much the Lord has blessed me.
We will be the oldest district on Tuesday which is really strange. We are more than 2/3 the way through the MTC! It feels like I’ve been here forever but at the same time it has flown by way fast. Well, my laundry is done so I have to go but I’ll write again soon! - Elder Brown

Oi Familia e Amigos,

How's everything? Things are going pretty good here. I've learned a ton of Portuguese this week it's so cool how fast I'm learning. Apparently I didn't play enough video games because I get blisters on my fingers every P-day because I'm writing so much (just kidding it's not that bad).

So how about that phonecall? Ha Ha pretty freakin' hilarious! It's nice to have stuff like that happen every once in a while to keep things interesting.

I did take another call the next day that was really cool. I talked to a guy who was nervous about getting baptized. He just needed someone to listen to him., so I talked to him for about an hour. He has had a really hard life, he's dirt poor, living off welfare but he is an amazing song writer and some Christian Music group is thinking of signing him. We really hit it off and he asked if I would call him a few times a week to talk about God and baptism. I asked a supervisor and they said it would be OK so hopefully I'll talk him into putting his fears aside and getting baptized.

Anyways, I have to get going but I will write again next week. I love you all, thanks for all the support!

Oi Familia!
I went to the RC for the first time yesterday. The RC is the Referral Center and it's where people call when they see commercials for the Church. I talked to a guy who said he had been looking to go to Church more, but he didn't know where to go, so I sent him a "Finding Faith in Christ" DVD and told him about the missionaries. I asked him if he would like them to come and teach him, he said yes. It's such an amazing feeling to think that I could have started that guy who I've never met on the road to salvation! I teach my first lesson in Portuguese next Monday so we'll see how that goes. Sorry I don't have a whole lot of time to write. I'll see if I can make more time on Sunday. Thanks for the package Mom, I'm good on food now!
